    • PURPOSE: Hybrid photonic crystal fibers and a manufacturing method thereof are provided to obtain various optical communication networks by modulating the intensity, wavelength, phase, and polarization of lights according to changes of functional materials filling in various shapes of central cores. CONSTITUTION: A hollow space(11) is formed lengthwise in the center of photonic-crystal optical fiber. An inner clad is formed on the outside of the hollow space in the longitudinal direction of the photonic-crystal optical fiber and has a plurality of air holes(12) that are arranged around the hollow space to form a hexagonal shape. An annular outer clad encloses the inner clad. A core is formed by injecting a functional material into the hollow space and the air holes.

    • A photonic quasi-crystal fiber with an endlessly single mode is provided to obtain a high flattened dispersion characteristic by changing the structure of a plurality of holes in the photonic crystal fiber. A core region(11) is made of the material with a predetermined refractive index. A cladding region(13) exists around the core region and a plurality of holes are arranged in the cladding region with a quasi-crystal structure. The cladding region except for the hole is made of the material with the predetermined refractive index. The plurality of holes lowers the effective refractive index of the cladding region. The light is guided in the core region by the total reflection effect due to the effective refractive index in the core region and the cladding region. The plurality of holes are arranged with 6-fold symmetric, 8-fold symmetric, or 12-fold symmetric quasi-crystal structure.

    • PURPOSE: A Mach-Zehnder interferometer optical fiber and a sensor thereof are provided to efficiently detect the variation of various physical values by forming an optical fiber which represents a Mach-Zehnder interference property. CONSTITUTION: An optical fiber comprises a cladding part surrounding a core part. A cavity part is included inside the optical fiber. The cavity part generates at least two optical paths which has phase difference by dividing light ray which is emitted to the optical fiber. The optical fiber is composed of a silica-based single mode optical fiber. The diameter of the cross section of the optical fiber is 110um-140um. The diameter of the cross section of the core part is 7um-150um. The rate of the refractive index of the core part and a cladding part to the light of the wave length of 1550nm is 1.2-1.6.
