    • A power transmission apparatus and an image forming apparatus having the same are provided to distance a sliding unit from a first transmission gear by rotating a pinion, using a motor and to separate the first and second transmission gears, thereby controlling the power transfer and reducing power consumption. A power transmission apparatus(1) comprises a shaft(110), first and second transmission gears(120,130), a sliding unit(140), and a driving unit(150). The shaft is fixed at a support frame(F). The first transmission gear receives power of a driving source(83) to rotate on the shaft. The second transmission gear receives power from the first transmission gear. Two power transfer shafts(101,102) are rotated at the support frame. The first power transfer shaft is installed with a first power transfer gear(101a) engaged with the first transmission gear. The second power transfer shaft is installed with a second power transfer gear(102a) engaged with the second transmission gear. A driving gear(102b) is installed at one end of the second power transfer shaft. The driving motor is a motor.

    • PURPOSE: Shifting structure of an automatic transfer is provided to improve response property in the converting operation, and reduce the numbers of parts and work processes. CONSTITUTION: Shifting structure of an automatic transfer comprises a rack(3) formed to a sleeve(1) in the longitudinal direction, and a rotational force supply unit engaging with the rack, to rectilinearly move the sleeve on an output shaft. The rotational force supply unit comprises a driving gear(5) engaging with the rack; a motor(7) supplying power to the driving gear; and a clutch unit converting the engaging state of the driving gear and rack. Accordingly, the response property in the converting operation is improved by the simplified structure.
