CONSTITUTION: A digital camera module(130) is prepared in a scanner body(110). The digital camera module photographs the image of the scan object. The digital camera module comprises a lens barrel(132) and an image sensor(134). The image sensor comprises a light receiving unit and an output unit. The light receiving unit receives the photographed image. The output unit calculates difference between the coordinate values of the received scan area and standard master image and establishes output standard data.

    • An image reader is provided to have a read region designating unit capable of freely designating a read region. A document board(120) is formed in a case(110). A scan unit(130) is movably installed in the case(110). The scan unit(130) reads images of documents laid on the document board(120). A read region designating unit(200) is installed in the case(110) to be movable in a movement direction of the scan unit(130). The read region designating unit(200) designates a region where the scan unit(130) reads the images. The read region designating unit(200) includes a sliding unit and a sensing unit. The sliding unit is moved along a guide part(111) formed in the case(110). The sensing unit is installed in the sliding unit. The sensing unit moves together with the sliding unit and designates the scan region.

    • PURPOSE: A liquid crystal display and method thereof having an image reading function is disclosed. CONSTITUTION: A n-channel TFT (L) (26) which is connected to a transparent pixel electrode (24) and a p-channel TFT (D) (27) which is connected to the cathode side of a photodiode (25) are connected to a common source line (22) and a common gate line (23). When a positive voltage (VL) or a negative voltage (VD) are applied to the gate line (23), both the TFTs can be independently controlled to be in a ON-state. A backlight (18) which is provided on the rear of an active matrix panel (13) has monochromatic light sources (18a - 18c) emitting red, blue and green lights, and images of the colors are displayed in a time-division manner. When the images are read, by using the monochromatic light sources (18a - 18c) successively, the red, blue and green component images are read for every pixel. Only the parts of a liquid crystal layer (14) corresponding to every other pixel (P1) in the vertical and horizontal directions are brought into light transmitting states, a certain amount of charge is stored only in the photodiodes (25) of the pixels (P1), and the photodiodes (25) are exposed to light. Then the image formed by the pixels (P1) is read. The similar processes for the pixels adjacent to the pixels (P1) are repeated to read the image of the original for all the pixels.
