    • PURPOSE: A static compensator and a control method thereof are provided to secure reactive power margin of a power system by controlling an inverter through a voltage controller and a reactive current controller. CONSTITUTION: A transformer(400) is connected to a bus of a power system. An inverter(600) is serially connected to the transformer and is driven with a control signal. A tap switching unit(200) changes a turn ratio of the transformer. A voltage controller controls the reactive current output quantity according to a set voltage control value. The reactive current controller controls the phase angle of the voltage outputted from the inverter. The tap switching controller outputs a tap up signal and a tap down signal.

    • PURPOSE: A method for operating a module type three phase active filter is provided to use IGBT with a low withstanding voltage by performing an operation with a low DC link voltage when being applied to a three-phase four-wire system. CONSTITUTION: A power supply(30) and a nonlinear load(10) are connected with three-phase three-wire. A single active filter(100,101,102) is installed between wires of each phase. A harmonic current and reactive current detector receiving each phase voltage and each phase current calculates a reference signal for controlling an output current of a single active filter. If an operation reference signal is not trouble by a mode signal input of a mode selection sequence detecting the trouble of each single active filter of the module three phase active filter(200), a compensation reference signal of each module is obtained. If one of a single active filter is trouble, the compensation reference signal of the module three phase active filter is obtained. A switching signal is outputted for controlling a switching circuit so that an output current of the active filter follows the reference signal in a current controller using the compensation reference signal as the current controller input signal.

    • A neutral line current reduction of three-phase four-wire power system using an active filter for a single power is provided to reduce power energy in a load by decreasing a current on a neutral line. An active filter for a power includes a neutral line(12), phase lines(11a,11b,11c), nonlinear loads(13a,13b,13c), a single transformer(14), an inverter(15), and a capacitor(16). The single transformer(14) is connected to a phase line of the neutral line(12) and three phase lines(11a,11b,11c). The inverter(15) of an H-bridge is connected to an inductor(15) from the transformer(14). The capacitor(16) operates as constant voltage source according to a switching operation of the inverter(15) of the H-bridge. The inverter(15) of the H-bridge outputs a compensation signal for compensating a neutral line current.
