    • PURPOSE: An apparatus for driving an LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) is provided to improve user convenience by providing an external screen adjusting unit. CONSTITUTION: An image signal processor(110) separates a television image signal from a composite image signal and divides a composite synchronizing signal. A liquid crystal panel(130) displays the television image signal. A timing controller(120) generates a source start pulse determining a display start point of time of the television image signal displayed on the liquid crystal panel by using an inner clock signal and the composite synchronizing signal from the image signal processor. A delay circuit(140) delays the inner clock signal to supply it to the timing controller. A data driver(132) supplies the television image signal to data lines of the liquid crystal panel in response to a control signal containing the source start pulse from the timing controller. A gate driver(134) drives gate lines of the liquid crystal panel in response to the control signal from the timing controller.

    • A display device that is automatically operable with various types of standards of video signals has a display panel (1), a controller (2), and a timing generator (3). The display panel includes pixels arranged in the form of a matrix to form an image (8). The timing generator (3) generates the timing signals in accordance with the adjustment information and inputs them into the display panel, whereby the image (8) that has been optimally adjusted based on the standard of the video signal is displayed.

    • PURPOSE: To provide a signal drive circuit for an active matrix type liquid crystal panel, enabling high picture quality to be compatible with low power consumption, a display device, an electro-optical device and a signal driving method using the signal drive circuit. CONSTITUTION: This signal driver (signal drive circuit) includes a shift register 140 shifting successively, by using as a unit a block which is devided for every a plurality of signal lines, image data in accordance with signal lines of the block, a line latch 36 latching the image data in synchronization with a horizontal synchronizing signal LP, a driving voltage generating circuit 38 generating driving voltages based on the image data and a signal line drive circuit 40 and in the driver, partial display is controlled based on partial display data PART which are specified in a block unit. The signal lines of the block set in a display area are driven based on the image data. Moreover, each signal line of block set in non-display areas is driven by the given non-display level voltage generated in a non-display level voltage supplying circuit.
