    • ABSTRACT A crash-safe vehicle control system for controlling operating devices of an own vehicle such as a vehicle decelerating device and an occupant protecting device, on the basis of information on at least one preceding object existing in front of the own vehicle. The vehicle control system is arranged to effect at least one of a non-first-preceding-object-information-dependent control and a width-related-information-dependent control. The non-first- preceding-object-information-dependent control is a control of the operating devices on the basis of non-first-preceding-object information detected by the present system per se, in the presence of a high possibility of crashing of the own vehicle with a first preceding vehicle existing immediately in front of the own vehicle. The non-first-preceding- object information relates to at least one non-first preceding object each existing in front of the first preceding vehicle. The width-related- information-dependent control is a control of the operating devices on the basis of at least one of width-related information relating to a width and a widthwise position of each specific object selected from the above-indicated at least one preceding object.

    • PURPOSE: A method for calibrating an NLOS(None Line Of Sight) error for a positioning system is provided to correct a positioning error caused by NLOS propagation generated when deciding a position of a terminal in a wireless communication environment, thereby improving positioning accuracy. CONSTITUTION: Secondary moments are calculated for received signals that are estimated to include an error caused by NLOS propagation. The calculated secondary moments are compared with theoretical values of previous scattering models. LOS range values and parameter values of the scattering models are calculated according to results of the comparison. The error caused by the NLOS propagation is corrected through a position deciding operation, thereby deciding a position of a terminal. When correcting the error caused by the NLOS propagation, a ring of scattering model, a disk of scattering model, or a Gaussian scattering model is adopted.
