    • PURPOSE: A method of treating a by-product gas from copper smelting is provided to produce sulfuric acid and hydrogen at high speed by removing the air from refined sulfur dioxide gas and resupplying non-reacted sulfur dioxide to an electrochemical cell. CONSTITUTION: A method of treating a by-product gas from copper smelting comprises the steps of: obtaining by-product gas containing sulfur dioxide from a copper mat manufacturing process, obtaining refined sulfur dioxide by successively performing washing, dust collection, and drying, obtaining high-purity sulfur dioxide by separating the sulfur dioxide from the refined sulfur dioxide, and obtaining sulfuric acid and hydrogen by injecting sulfur dioxide to the anode of an electrochemical cell(60) with a cation exchanging film and water to the cathode of the electrochemical cell.
