    • PURPOSE: A moving picture liquid crystal composition and a liquid crystal display device using the composition are provided, to increase the phase transition temperature, birefringence and dielectric anisotropy of liquid crystal, thereby obtaining the high speed response of liquid crystal. CONSTITUTION: The liquid crystal composition comprises a nematic liquid crystal compound represented by the formula 1, wherein R is CnH2n+1O, CnH2n+1 or CnH2n-1 (wherein n is an integer of 1-15); A1 and A2 are independently cyclohexane, cyclohexanephenyl, phenyl, phenylcyclohexane or a single bond; B1 and B2 are independently phenyl, cyclohexane, a single bond, -CH2CH2-, -C=C- or a triple bond of C-C; m and n are independently 0 or 1; C1 is phenyl, cyclohexane, cyclohexene, phenylcyclohexane, cyclohexanephenyl, a single bond, -CH2CH2-, -C=C- or a triple bond of C-C; X and Z are independently H, F, Cl, Br, NCS or CN; and Y is NCS, SCN or F.

    • PURPOSE: A liquid crystalline medium and a liquid crystal display containing the liquid crystalline medium are provided, to obtain the liquid crystalline medium having a low Delta n and a high Delta epsilon. CONSTITUTION: The liquid crystalline medium comprises a dielectrically positive component A comprising at least one dielectrically positive compound of the formula 1, wherein R1 is an alkyl, alkoxy, fluoroalkyl or fluoroalkoxy group of C1-C7, or an alkenyl, alkenyloxy, alkoxyalkyl or fluoroalkenyl group of C2-C7; X1 is F or a fluoroalkyl or fluoroalkoxy group of C1-C4; and L11, L12 and L13 are independently H or F. Preferably the liquid crystalline medium comprises further a dielectrically positive component A comprising at least one dielectrically positive compounds of the formulas 2 and 3, wherein R2 and R3 are independently an alkyl, alkoxy, fluoroalkyl or fluoroalkoxy group of C1-C7, or an alkenyl, alkenyloxy, alkoxyalkyl or fluoroalkenyl group of C2-C7; X2 and X3 are independently F or a fluoroalkyl or fluoroalkoxy group of C1-C4; and L31, L32 and L33 are independently H or F.
