    • PURPOSE: A method for eliminating impurities from calcium carbonate using acid treatment is provided to obtain the high purity and the high whiteness of calcium carbonate by eliminating impurities from the calcium carbonate and recrystalizing the calcium carbonate. CONSTITUTION: Calcium carbonate is treated with 2 to 3N of a hydrochloric acid aqueous solution in order to obtain calcium chloride aqueous solution and eliminate solid type impurities from the calcium carbonate(1). Aluminum sulfate is added to the calcium chloride aqueous solution, and aqueous impurities dissolved in the calcium chloride aqueous solution are eliminated. An oxidizer is added to the calcium chloride aqueous solution in order to eliminate ferric impurities(5). The oxidizer is selected from hydrogen peroxide and potassium permanganate. The calcium chloride aqueous solution is reacted with sodium carbonate aqueous solution to recrystalize calcium carbonate(7).
