    • PURPOSE: A compensation system of defective inkjets and a method thereof are provided to refer to the image data of the printed image before the controller in a printer forms the printed ink image, thereby estimating the overlap between ink drops. CONSTITUTION: A compensation system of defective inkjets (208A-208D) includes operable inkjets, an inoperable inkjet (206), and a controller. The operable inkjets are configured to spray ink on each surface for accepting an image. The controller is connected so as to act on the multiple operable inkjets and an inoperable inkjet. The controller is configured to distinguish multiple pixels in the image data to be printed by the inoperable inkjets. The controller is configured to distinguish a first location in the image data for storing a compensation pixel corresponding to one of the multiple pixels to be printed by the inoperable inkjets. The first location is distinguished by referring to the predetermined sequence of the pixel locations that one of pixel to be printed by the inoperable inkjet is located. The controller is configured to distinguish the overlap parameter for the ink so as to be sprayed by the operable inkjets.

An inkjet print head includes a first array(N1) and a second array(N2) in which the nozzles of the first array are aligned with the nozzles of the second array in the printing direction; a unit of detecting a defective nozzle from the first and second array of nozzle; a unit of selectively activating the nozzle of second array which is aligned with the defective nozzle in the first array; and a unit of reacting to the detection unit when the defective nozzle is aligned with the nozzle of the first array in the second array and translating the second array along the route to a first location with respect to the first array of nozzle so that the nozzles of the first array are re-aligned with the nozzles of the second array.

    • An inkjet printer and an image forming method are provided to compensate for degradation of printed image quality that is caused by defective nozzles. An inkjet printer comprises as follows. An image forming unit(40) is equipped with a plurality of nozzles jetting ink and forms images on a print media. A media feeding unit(20) supplies the print media toward the image forming unit from a standby position. A displacement moving unit(30) is installed to allow the print media located at the standby position to move between an initial standby position and a displacement standby position. In addition, a controller(80) controls the media feeding unit and the displacement moving unit to perform initial printing and displacement printing.

A method for detecting a printing position error using printed dots comprises the steps of: converting each pixel value of a first image that printed dots are formed at certain intervals into a frequency region through FFT(Fast Fourier Transform)(100); converting each pixel value of a second image actually printed with the first image into a frequency region through FFT(102); detecting two dimensional cross power spectral density of the pixel values converted into frequency region(104); converting the detected two dimensional cross power spectral densities into a time region, and seeking two dimensional correlation values(106); and detecting error coordinates showing the difference between the respective positions of the printed dots of the second image shows and the printed dots of the first image by using the correlation values converted into time region(108).
