CONSTITUTION: The feed additives for cholesterol decrease in domestic animals comprise 0.01 to 5.0 wt.% of at least one selected from chitin, chitosan or chitosan oligosaccharide, and optionally 5.0 to 15.5 wt.% of yucca-based plant extract, wherein the feed additives further comprise 15 to 21 wt.% of crude protein, 12 to 18 wt.% of crude fat, 8 to 14 wt.% of crude fiber, 20 to 27 wt.% of crude ash, 8.0 to 11.0 wt.% of water, 3.0 to 5.0 wt.% of calcium, 1.0 to 3.0 wt.% of phosphorous and 20 to 200ppm of carotenoid; and the domestic animal is chicken or pig. The meat products produced by feeding the feed additives to domestic animals include egg or meat.

    • PURPOSE: Provided is a preparation method of barleys containing calcium. In particular, organo calcium-containing barley by solid-state fermentation of calcium containing-yeast and inorgano calcium-containing barley are prepared. CONSTITUTION: The method of preparing barleys containing organic calcium comprises the steps of: obtaining yeast which accumulates in its cells by incubating the yeast in a calcium-contained medium for 1 to 3 days at a temperature of 30 to 40 deg.C, wherein the medium(pH 5 to 6) containing glucose, yeast extract, calcium diphosphate and calcium; and inoculating the obtained yeast of 1 to 10%(w/v) on steamed barley then cultivating it for 3 to 6 days at 28 to 38 deg.C. The method of preparing the grain of barley containing inorganic calcium comprises the steps of: embedding barley in a calcium-contained solution; and dehydrating the barley and swelling by boiling.

    • PURPOSE: Residual antibiotics of livestock products and antibiotic resistance caused thereby are problems of livestock industry. Peptide antibiotic, lactoferricin derived from lactoferrin existing in the fore milk and mucosa membrane, is provided which kills germs and solved the problems mentioned above. CONSTITUTION: Lactoferricin gene consisted of 25 amino acids is amplified from human lactoferrin cDNA and joined with alpha mating-factor preprosequence. Constructed lactoferricin gene is ligated with pPIC9K vector and transforms E. coli. The expression vector pPICLFCin is introduced into histidine auxotroph Pichia pastor is GS115. Correct colonies are selected on the ground of kanamycin resistance and named Pichia pastor is LFC2. The expression of lactoferricin is confirmed with SDS-PAGE and PCR amplification of lactoferricin gene from the cultured cells. The activity of expressed lactoferricin is assayed using E. coli JM109 as a testing organism. Mass production of lactoferricin is achieved by the steps of glycerol pre induction and methanol induction during the fermentation process. The culture broth and cells are freeze dried and added into foodstuff in the range of 0.1-0.5 weight % of total weight of foodstuff.
