    • A light guiding plate is provided to rearrange light from the surface for use with other shapes of LCDs, displays, illumination application. A composite light guiding plate comprises a light guiding layer(40) and a light extraction layer(50). The light guiding layer comprises an incident face(42) and a light guiding output surface. The incident face accommodates the light from one or more light sources. The light guiding output surface generally meets at right angle. The light extraction layer comprises an input surface and an illumination output surface. The input surface is bonded to the light guiding output surface and has a plurality of protruded light extraction structures having tips providing the optical contact between the light guiding layer and the light extraction layer. The illumination output surface provides light output from the composite illumination light guide plate.

    • A polarizing turning film with reduced color separation is provided to reduce color separation by rearranging lights from a light guiding plate and by outputting polarized lights. A turning film includes optic input and optic output surfaces having first prism elements on the output surface and second prism elements or lens type elements on the input surface. The first prism elements include a first far base angle(beta1) and a first near base angle(beta2). The second prism elements or lens type elements include a second far base angle and a second near base angle. The angle values are selected to supply reduced color separation according to comparison with the same film having merely the first prism elements on the output surface.
