    • PURPOSE: A passenger identification apparatus for a vehicle, which supplies DC and AC voltage to a passenger sensor and a seat heater by alternative switching, is provided to prevent simultaneous supply of DC and AC voltage and protect a passenger sensor from the electric field formed by DC voltage. CONSTITUTION: A passenger identification apparatus for a vehicle comprises first and second power supply units, a passenger sensor unit(140), a seat heater unit(120), and first and second switches. The first power supply unit outputs AC voltage and the second power supply unit outputs DC voltage. The capacitance of the passenger sensor unit is changed with the AC voltage component of the first power supply unit according to the electric permittivity of a passenger. The seat heater part generates heat with the DC voltage component of the second power supply unit. The first switch is connected between the first power supply unit and the passenger sensor unit and the second switch is switched alternately with the first switch.
