    • A process for producing trifluoroiodomethane(CF3I) and pentafluoroiodoethane(C2F5I) by using elements with a d^1 s^1 configuration or lanthanide elements as catalysts is provided, and a process for producing trifluoroiodomethane(CF3I) and pentafluoroiodoethane(C2F5I) by using transition metals, noble metals, or rare earth metals as promoters for the activity of the catalysts is provided. A process for producing a fluoroiodoalkane compound represented by the formula, CF3(CF2)n-Y, wherein n is 0 or 1, comprises the step of contacting A, B and C, wherein A is represented by the formula, CF3(CF2)n-Y, wherein n is 0 or 1, Y is selected from the group consisting of H, Cl, Br, and COOH, B is an iodine source, and C is a catalyst comprising elements with a d^1 s^1 configuration and lanthanide elements, and wherein the process is performed at a temperature for a contact time sufficient to produce the fluoroiodoalkane compound. The contacting step is conducted in the presence of a catalyst modifier for the catalyst, wherein the catalyst modifier comprises at least one element selected from the group consisting of a transition metal element, a main group element, salts thereof, and combinations thereof. The process further comprises the step of passing the fluoroiodoalkane through a scrubber containing an aqueous alkali solution. The process further comprises the step of passing the fluoroiodoalkane through a scrubber containing a drying agent. The process further comprises the step of cooling the fluoroiodoalkane at a temperature below the boiling temperature of the fluoroiodoalkane to condense the fluoroiodoalkane. The process comprises the step of separating the fluoroiodoalkane in the essentially pure form from the reaction mixture. Further, the step of contacting A, B and C is performed under existence of dilution solution and oxygen source.

    • A method for producing fluoroiodoalkane compounds is provided to improve catalyst performance and reaction rate by using a catalyst promoter. A method for producing a fluoroiodoalkane compound represented by the formula of CF3(CF2)n-I(wherein, n is 0 or 1) includes a step of contacting (i) a compound, (ii) an iodine supply source, (iii) an alkali or alkaline earth metal salt catalyst supported on a carrier, and (iv) a catalyst promoter for the alkali or alkaline earth metal salt catalyst for time and at temperature sufficient to produce the fluoroiodoalkane compound. The compound(i) is represented by the formula of CF3(CF2)n-Y, wherein Y is selected from the group comprising H, Cl, Br, and COOH, and n is 0 or 1. The catalyst promoter comprises at least one element selected from the group comprising transition metal elements, rare earth metal elements, main group elements other than alkali or alkaline earth metal elements, salts thereof, and combinations thereof.
