The piezoelectric element height controller controls a height of the piezoelectric element according to a water height inside the ballast tank. The piezoelectric element height controller supports the piezoelectric element, and comprises a floater which floats on water inside the ballast tank.

    • The present invention relates to a ballast tank freezing preventing structure using an insulator. The purpose of the present invention is to prevent the freezing of a ballast tank in a ship which sails in polar regions only with a simple structural change by blocking the inflow of outside cold air using an insulator. In particular, the ballast tank freezing preventing structure can maintain the temperature of the ballast tank in the ship above the freezing point using waste heat of combustion gas emitted from an engine combustion chamber in the ship without an additional heating device. In addition, the ballast tank freezing preventing structure can efficiently use the waste heat of the combustion gas by controlling a combustion gas supplying area according to the temperature inside the ballast tank and the height of the seawater. Therefore, the ballast tank freezing preventing structure can improve the reliability and competitiveness of the ship and cargo transportation fields and, especially, of ships which sail in polar regions.

    • PURPOSE: A system and a method for measuring a thickness of ice in a towing tank using ultrasonic waves are provided to accurately and reliably measure a thickness of ice because a reaction speed control is possible according to a progressing speed of a model ship and an underwater ultrasonic sensor. CONSTITUTION: A system for measuring a thickness of ice in a towing tank using ultrasonic waves comprises an underwater ultrasonic sensor(110), an aerial ultrasonic sensor(120), and a central processing unit. The underwater ultrasonic sensor is arranged in the bottom of a towing tank(200). The aerial ultrasonic sensor is arranged in a model ship(210) contacting to ice(201) generated inside the towing tank or a towing trolley towing the model ship. The central processing unit converts signals received from the aerial ultrasonic sensor and underwater ultrasonic sensor into electronic signals. The central processing unit calculates an interval between the aerial ultrasonic sensor and underwater ultrasonic sensor and subtracts a sum of intervals between a surface of the ice and the aerial ultrasonic sensor and between the surface of the ice and underwater ultrasonic sensor so that a thickness of the ice is measured.
