    • A hydraulic shock absorber enabling an increase in the variable range of both damping forces produced in the extension side stroke and the pressurized side stroke thereof. A cylinder (1) in which a hydraulic oil is sealed is divided into first and second oil chambers (101) and (102) by a piston (2) and a main valve (4) is disposed in the main passage (81) of the piston (2). An extension side pilot chamber (6) energizing a spool (8) in the valve closing direction at a pilot pressure led therein through a first orifice (32) in the extension side stroke and a pressurized side pilot chamber (7) energizing the spool (8) in the valve closing direction at a pilot pressure led therein through a second orifice (43) in the pressurized side stroke are formed at the rear face of the spool (8) of the main valve. Also, the shock absorber comprises a pressure receiving part receiving a high pressure in the extension side stroke and energizing the spool (8) in the valve opening direction against the pilot pressure and a pressure receiving part receiving a high pressure in the pressurized side stroke and energizing the spool (8) in the valve opening direction against the pilot pressure. In addition, the shock absorber comprises an extension side poppet valve (11) regulating the pilot pressure in the extension side stroke, a pressurized side poppet valve (10) regulating the pilot pressure in the pressurized side stroke, and a solenoid valve (71) energized to reduce the initial set loads of the springs (9) of the extension side and pressurized side poppet valves (11) and (10) by passing current therethrough. ® KIPO & WIPO 2007

A damping force control apparatus(1) controlling damping force generated by a shock absorber(D1) interposed between a sprung member(B1) and an unsprung member(W1) of a vehicle(A), comprises: a damping force varying mechanism(3) compensating for minimum damping force which can be generated by the shock absorber by means of variable damping force and a control portion(2). The control portion calculates a deviation between a damping force target value and the minimum damping force and feedback-loop controls the damping force varying mechanism according to the deviation to enable the damping force generated by the shock absorber to correspond to the damping force target value.

    • A damping valve is provided to extensively control the damping force in normal operation of the damping valve. A damping valve is composed of a flow path(P), a normal state operating valve(1), an emergency state operating valve(4), a solenoid(S), and a driving system(13b,16,20,20b,24-28). The normal state operating valve is arranged in the flow path. The emergency state operating valve is arranged in the lower part of the normal state operating valve. The solenoid generates the magnetic force according to the supply of current. The driving system individually changes the flow resistance of the normal state operating valve and the flow resistance of the emergency state operating valve by using the magnetic force generated by the solenoid. The normal state operating valve includes a valve body(2) driven by the driving system. The valve body is provided to narrow the cross section of the flow path according to increase of current supplied to the solenoid.
