    • PURPOSE: To provide a magneto-optical recording medium from which signals exhibiting no fluctuation of the starting position of magnetic domain wall displacement and having suppressed jitters can be reproduced. CONSTITUTION: The magneto-optical recording medium is provided with a magnetic domain wall displacement layer 1 in which the magnetic domain wall is displaced, a recording layer 3 which stores information, and a switching layer 2 which is provided between these magnetic domain wall displacement layer and the recording layer and which has a Curie temperature lower than those of the two layers. The magnetic domain wall displacement layer 1, the switching layer 2, and the recording layer 3 are exchange-coupled at temperature equal to or below the Curie temperature. The saturation magnetization of the magnetic domain wall displacement layer 1 and that of the recording layer 3 are made mutually anti-parallel in a state both are exchange-coupled at a temperature close to the Curie temperature of the switching layer 2.
