    • PURPOSE: A method for extracting resvedratrol and derivatives thereof as four stilbene compounds from a Paeoniae radix seed is provided. Whereby, the compound can be used for a substitute of 17β-estradiol, genistein promoting the formation of a bone and having estrogen activity. CONSTITUTION: This resvedratrol and derivatives thereof are extracted by the process consisting of: removing grease from dried Paeoniae radix seed powder by adding n-hexane; obtaining a methanol extract by adding methanol to defatted meal and repeatedly extracting; adding methanol to the extract and absorbing in an HP-20 column; fractionally eluting with methanol; concentrating two ultraviolet absorption fractions(I, II, III) under reduced pressure; and separating trans-resvedratrol-4-o-β-D-glucoside and trans-resvedratrol from fraction I and II and trans-viniferin and cis-viniferin from fraction III.

    • PURPOSE: A method for isolation and purification of serotonins, lignans and flavonoids from safflower(Carthamus tinctorius L.) seeds is provided, thereby mass producing serotonin derivatives and phenols from safflower seeds with high work efficiency. CONSTITUTION: The method for isolation and purification of serotonins, lignans and flavonoids from safflower(Carthamus tinctorius L.) seeds comprises the steps of: roasting dried safflower seeds, and removing fat from the roasted safflower seeds by using an oil press or by adding 100% normal-hexane into the safflower seeds and heating the mixture for 2 hours; adding 80% water-soluble ethanol into the fat-removed safflower seeds, heating the mixture at 70 to 90 deg. C, and concentrating the extract under reduced pressure; treating the concentrate with hot water, and adding pectinase into the hot water treated concentrate to hydrolyze it; and passing the hydrolyzed product through the Diaion HP-20 resin, eluting the resin with 60% to 100% water-soluble ethanol, and subjecting the eluate to Sephadex LH-20 column chromatography.
