    • The present invention provides a polyhedral battery cell which includes a polyhedral battery case where an anode, a cathode, and an electrode assembly of a separator structure interposed between the anode and the cathode are formed. An anode terminal and a cathode terminal are formed with an integrated polyhedral shape on the outer surface of the battery case. This polyhedral battery cell provides a single battery cell with a specific structure, thereby providing the battery module of a compact structure which is easily assembled/disassembled. Thereby, the efficiency of manufacturing processes can be improved. According to client requirements, capacity, voltage, or appearance can be easily changed.

According to an aspect of the present invention, provided is a manufacturing method of an electrode assembly, which comprises a patterned first electrode formation step; a matching patterned second electrode formation step; and an electrode assembly formation step. According to another aspect of the present invention, provided is an electrode assembly, which comprises a first electrode including a patterned first electrode active material layer; a matching patterned porous separator membrane; and a second electrode including a matching patterned second electrode active material layer. According to the present invention, an electrode assembly providing remarkably improved output performance of the battery while maintaining the bonding force between both electrodes and the separator membrane therebetween, and an electrochemical device including the same can be obtained.

According to an aspect of the present invention, provided is a method for preparing an electrode assembly including a step for forming a first electrode having a first electrode active material; a step for forming a second electrode having a second electrode active material; a step for forming a porous separation membrane that has a first electrode active material layer on one surface and a second electrode active material layer on the other surface; and a step for forming an electrode assembly by interposing and rolling the porous separation membrane between the first electrode and the second electrode so that the same electrode active materials face each other. According to the method of the present invention, an electrode assembly that has a significantly improved battery output performance, maintains a coupling force both of the electrodes and the separation membrane therebetween, and provides process convenience, and a secondary battery including same can be obtained.
