    • Disclosed are an apparatus and a method for generating a three-dimensional image by measuring depth information of an object. An apparatus for generating a three-dimensional image includes a light transmitting part and a light receiving part. The light transmitting part includes: a light source; a collimator lens for making the light source parallel; an active pattern device for generating a pattern actively by turning on/off the parallel light according to the change of distance or angle of view of an object; and a project lens for irradiating the pattern to the object. The light receiving part includes: a focusing lens for receiving the light reflected from the object; a filter for transmitting a specific wavelength of the received light; an image sensor for converting the transmitted light into an electrical signal; and an image processor for measuring depth information of the object by calculating the movement amount of the reflected light on the basis of the electrical signal, and for generating a three-dimensional image on the basis of the measured depth information of the object.
