    • A fuel injection method for an internal combustion engine, notably of direct injection type, comprising a piston provided with a bowl and a teat is provided to properly mix the air accommodated in a bowl with fuel by including a piston having a concave unit where a protrusion is formed. A combustion engine includes at least one cylinder(10), a piston(12) linearly reciprocating in the cylinder, and a cylinder head(14) covering the cylinder.     • PURPOSE: A direct injection engine with a small spray angle and a method of using the engine are provided to control the performance of an internal combustion engine and the generation of pollutants and to suppress the existence of the liquid fuel on the wall of a cylinder. CONSTITUTION: A direct injection engine comprises at least one cylinder with a head(1), a piston(5), inlet and exhaust valves(3,4), and a combustion chamber between the cylinder head and recessed piston face. The engine has an injector(6) delivering fuel with a spray angle(a1) under or equal to 2Arctg CD/2F. Herein, CD is the diameter of the cylinder and F is the distance between the point of origin of the fuel jets issuing from the injector and the position of the piston corresponding to a crankshaft angle of 50 deg from TDC. The angle(a2) of the central tip(7) of the piston face is selected according to the angle of the fuel spray and is designed to deflect the fuel outwards and vaporize the fuel before coming into contact with the cylinder wall.
