    • An apparatus and a method for transmitting/receiving signals in a communication system are provided to increase reliabilities of low-reliability bits among the bits constituting an LDPC code through channel interleaving. An interleaved vector is generated by channel-interleaving a Low Density Parity Check(LDPC) codeword according to a channel interleaving rule. A modulation symbol is generated by modulating the interleaved vector according to a modulation scheme. The channel interleaving rule is a rule for setting degree distribution for nodes in a factor graph of the LDPC codeword separately for individual levels supported by the modulation scheme, or a rule for allowing coded bits included in the LDPC codeword to be interleaved according to an unequal error characteristic of the modulation scheme.

    • A method and an apparatus for encoding/decoding low density parity check codes in a communication system are provided to minimize complexity of an encoding/decoding portion by supporting various coding rates using a single parity check matrix. A signal transmitting apparatus includes an encoder(111), a modulator(113), and a transmitter(115). When an information vector to be transmitted is generated in the signal transmitting apparatus, the information vector is delivered to the encoder. The encoder encodes the information vector according to a predetermined encoding scheme and generates an LDPC(Low Density Parity Check) codeword. The LDPC codeword is outputted to the modulator. The modulator modulates the codeword vector according to the predetermined modulation scheme to generate a modulation vector. The modulation vector is outputted to the transmitter. The transmitter receives the modulation vector from the modulator, processes a transmission signal, and outputs the transmission signal through an antenna.
