    • PURPOSE: The title copolymer having excellent physical properties such as bending elastic modulus and impact resistance while reducing process temperature by copolymerizing styrene and p-tertiary butylstyrene, and good bond strength with other components by introducing a functional polymer is provided, which can process even at low temperatures of less than 300 deg.C and has physical properties equal to or much superior to styrene homopolymers regardless of a decrease in melting point. CONSTITUTION: The copolymer comprising (A) 90 to 99% by mole of styrene and (B) a repeating unit of formula (1) derived from 0.01 to 10% by mole of p-tertiary butylstyrene and having a weight average molecular weight of 10,000 to 1,000,000 and a syndiotactic stereoregularity of 90% or more is prepared by polymerization of 90 to 99% by mole of styrene and 0.01 to 10% by mole of p-tertiary butylstyrene in a catalytic system comprising a transition metal compound of formula: MR1aR2bR3cR440(a+b+c) or M1R1dR2eR33-(d+e) and an organic aluminium compound or aluminoxane of formula: -(-Al-R5-O-)j.

    • A styrenic grafted copolymer is disclosed, in which one or more monomers with ethylenically unsaturated bonds are grafted to a syndiotactic polystyrene. The styrenic grafted copolymer is produced through the following steps: (1) preparing a syndiotactic stereogular styrenic polymer having repeating units (A) by polymerizing vinyl aromatic monomers under a catalyst system, the catalyst system consisting of transition metal compounds (I) as main catalyst components and organic aluminum compounds or aluminoxanes (II) as cocatalyst components; and (2) graft-polymerizing monomers of formula (B) having ethylenically unsaturated bonds to the syndiotactic stereoregular styrenic polymer: where R1 is hydrogen, halogen, or a substituent not containing carbon-carbon double bonds but containing one or more components selected from the group consisting of: carbon, oxygen, nitrogen, sulfur, phosphorus, selenium, silicon, and tin; and m is an integer from 1 to 3 (if m is 2 or 3, R1 is same or different); where each of R2-R5 is hydrogen, halogen, or a substituent containing one or more components selected from the group consisting of: carbon, oxygen, nitrogen, sulfur, phosphorus, selenium, silicon, and tin.
