    • An inverter and control circuit, and the control method and light emitting device using the same can light the external electrode fluorescent lamp with the simple configuration by performing the striking of the external electrode fluorescent lamp with the soft start circuit. The soft start circuit(70) produces the soft start voltage(Vss) changing in the lighting commencement of the EEFL(External Electrode Fluorescent Lamp) with the time. The pulse width modulator(60) produces the PWM signal(Vpwm) so that the feedback voltage(Vfb) according to the output voltage(Vdrv) of inverter coincide with the soft start voltage(Vss). The voltage of the primary coil of the trans is switching-controlled to the logic controller(50) based on the PWM signal(Vpwm) from the pulse width modulator. The soft start circuit increases the soft start voltage(Vss) with the time. The soft start voltage is lowered if the soft start voltage reaches the first voltage level(VH).

    • PURPOSE: A load driving circuit, a light emitting device using the same, and a display device are provided to control a change range of a frequency by controlling an electrical state of the load through a pulse frequency modulation. CONSTITUTION: A first error amplifier(40) generates a detection signal which shows an electric state of a load and a feedback signal due to the error of a first reference voltage. The potential of a contact point between a current generating transistor and a current generating resistor is inputted to a first input terminal of a second error amplifier(42). A second reference voltage is inputted to a second input terminal of the second error amplifier. An output terminal of the second error amplifier is connected to a control terminal of the current generating transistor. A control resistor is installed between the output terminal of the first error amplifier and the contact point between the current generating transistor and the current generating resistor.

    • A reference voltage source (2) generates a reference voltage (Vdim) for current light control. A first current source (24) generates a first current (I1). A first current mirror circuit (28) has a plurality of output terminals (P1-P3) and copies the first current (I1) to output a plurality of first copy currents (Ic1a-Ic1c) from the plurality of output terminals (P1-P3). A plurality of first switches (SW1b, SW1c) are provided, respectively, on the passages of the plurality of first copy currents (Ic1a-Ic1c). A conversion resistor (R3) having a fixed potential at one end is provided on the passages of the plurality of first copy currents (Ic1a-Ic1c) outputted from the first current mirror circuit (28). A decoder circuit (40) receives a control signal (Sdim) from the outside and controls on/off of the plurality of first switches (SW1b, SW1c). The reference voltage source (2) outputs a voltage dependent on the voltage drop across the conversion resistor (R3) as the reference voltage (Vdim).
