    • PURPOSE: To provide a yarn feeding device capable of reducing fluctuation of fed knitting yarn tension, and therefore capable of feeding the knitting yarn with accurate length, even when the demanded for the amount of the knitting yarn is rapidly changed. CONSTITUTION: In this yarn feeding device, a knitting yarn 14 is sent out by being nipped between a main roller 20 and a driven roller 21, accumulated according to tilting of a buffer arm 17, and supplied to a knitted fabric 12 through a yarn feeder 13. A yarn feeding controller 31 forecasts the demanded amount of the knitting yarn 14 based on signals from a knitting controller 30, and conducts proportional-integral-derivative(PID) control over a servomotor 22 so that the position of the top side 19 of the arm targets the home position according to a tilt angle of the buffer arm 17 detected by a tilt angle sensor 27.

    • A flat knitting machine is provided to select a knitting needle efficiently, based on relative movement of a needle bed and a carriage at the racking time, thereby improving the knitting efficiency. A carriage position detection unit(18) detects a position of a carriage(13) with respect to a flat knitting machine(11). A racking control unit(20) controls a racking element(19). A needle bed position detection unit detects a position of a needle bed(12) with respect to the flat knitting machine. A position calculation unit calculates a position of the carriage with respect to the needle bed, based on the detected position of the carriage with respect to the flat knitting machine and the detected position of the needle bed with respect to the knitting machine. A needle selection control unit controls the selection of knitting needles during movement of the needle bed by the racking, based on the calculated position of the carriage with respect to the needle bed. Further, the racking control unit controls the racking in order to rack while the carriage is transferred.
