摘要： PURPOSE: A liquid crystal composition, a liquid crystal display, and a method of manufacturing a liquid crystal display are provided to prevent irregular display and to improve the reliability of a liquid crystal display. CONSTITUTION: A liquid crystal display(1) includes a first substrate(2), a second substrate(3) facing the first substrate, and a liquid crystal layer(4) intervening between the first and second substrates and containing liquid crystal substances different from each other. A sum of values each calculated from a formula, Xalpha(RT log Palpha+HEalpha) for all the liquid crystal substances in the liquid crystal layer being 32 kJ/mol or higher. Xalpha denotes a molar fraction of a component alpha in the liquid crystal layer, Palpha denotes a distribution ratio of the component alpha between an aqueous phase and a 1-octanol phase, HEalpha denotes a hydration energy for 1 mol of the component alpha, R denotes a gas constant of 8.3J/K.mol, and T denotes a temperature of 300K.

The total extracted amount of the previously mentioned compounds is below 100 ppm when the coloring layer member is extracted with a liquid crystal material after curing.
