    • PURPOSE: An icing detecting apparatus for a refrigerator and a control method thereof are provided to display a detecting result through a displayer because an existence of water or ice and a freezing state of the ice inside an icing machine are detected by a weight sensor and an infrared ray temperature sensor. CONSTITUTION: An icing detecting apparatus for a refrigerator comprises a ice detecting sensor(10), a control unit(20), and a display unit(30). The ice detecting sensor comprises a weight sensor(11) and an infrared ray temperature sensor(12). The weight sensor measures weight of water or ice stored in an icing machine. The temperature sensor detects a temperature of a stock stored in the icing machine. The control unit received a transmitted detection signal of the ice detecting sensor, thereby deciding an existence of water or ice and a freezing state of the ice inside an icing machine and outputting a control signal to display a detecting result. The display unit displays the detecting result in a front side of the door according to the control signal of the control unit.
