The handgrip for use in bioelectrical impedance measurement is constructed, according to the present invention, in such manner that a grip section of the handgrip that the person grasps with his hand is gradually increased in diameter from one end to another end. The grip section is provided with a current supplying electrode and a voltage measurement electrode both disposed in the axial direction. The electrodes are spaced apart to each other by the predetermined distance. The handgrip further includes an auxiliary member coupled with the grip section.

    • In a bioelectrical impedance measuring method of the present invention, a first, second and third bioelectrical impedance values are determined by a measurement using the alternating currents having a first, second and third frequencies respectively. Then, an vector impedance locus is derived from only the derived first, second and third bioelectrical impedance values to determine the bioelectrical impedance values at 0 frequency and at an infinite frequency. The body composition is also judged based on the measured results. Limiting frequencies used for the measurement to three kinds enables the apparatus to be simplified and to be manufactured at a low cost as well as achieving the shortened measuring time and the enhanced measuring accuracy.
