    • A zero point setting method for a linear motor is provided to remove necessity of setting and adjusting works by a person by finishing works for setting a zero point at a point of time when finishing assembly of the linear motor, thereby improving reproducibility. A zero point setting method for a linear motor includes the steps of: searching a position at which a magnetic characteristic of a row of magnets is abruptly changed by moving a mover to a zero point(S102); setting a zero point setting reference position based on the position at which the magnetic characteristic is abruptly changed(S105); stopping the mover at a position at which a scale head has a predetermined value by decelerating the mover from the zero point setting reference position(S106); searching a magnetic characteristic polarity changing point obtained from a magnetic linear encoder by reversing a moving direction of the mover from a stop position(S107); and setting the polarity changing point as a reference position of an absolute position of the linear motor by stopping the mover at the polarity changing point(S108).
