    • PURPOSE: Provided is a method capable of manufacturing a separator for lead storage battery having sufficient mechanical strength even if it uses polyolefins having low molecular weight. CONSTITUTION: The method for manufacturing a separator for lead storage battery using high density polyolefin, inorganic fillers and plasticizer, comprises treating a surface of inorganic fillers with silane solution to allow the surface to bond with the polyolefin. The silane is selected from compounds having epoxy group, methacrylic group or amino group. The surface is treated with 0.5-1 wt% of silane solution based on weight of silica. The resin used in the method consists of high density polyolefins having a molecular weight of 600,000 or more and a melt index of 0.04 or less, or polyolefins consisting of polyethylene, polypropylene, polybutylene, and so on.

    • PURPOSE: A filling process for uniformly and quickly pouring a gelled electrolyte solution into a battery jar is provided which promotes productivity and prevents the performance lowering of a battery caused by a gelled electrolyte generated between electrodes and between a separation membrane and an electrode by air trapping. CONSTITUTION: This filling process comprises the steps of making the inside of a battery jar (1) vacuous by discharging air at the inside of a battery jar to the outside through an air discharge hole (6); pouring a gelled electrolyte solution into a gelled electrolyte filling hole (2); temporarily storing the poured electrolyte at an intermediate storage space (3) and pouring from the lower part of an electrode body to the upper part in the opposite direction of gravity through a gelled discharging hole (4); and discharging air at the inside of the battery jar to the outside through an air discharge hole and removing air confined in between laminated electrode bodies and air contained in gelled electrode it self.
