    • PURPOSE: An image display device and a method for displaying an image by using the same are provided to reduce optical loss, power consumption, weight and volume of the image display device by forming the image device based on photoluminescence quenching device. CONSTITUTION: An image display device includes a substrate(1) and an excitation light source(9) for radiating light towards a front portion(1a) of the substrate(1). A plurality of sub pixels(6,7,8) is aligned at the rear surface of the substrate(1). The substrate(1) is made of transparent material so as to allow excitation light to pass through. The sub pixels(6,7,8) include two electrodes(2,5) and a light emitting layer(4) positioned between the electrodes(2,5). The light emitting layer(4) is made of light-emitting polymer. One of electrode(2) adjacent to the rear surface of the substrate(1) is made of transparent material.

    • PURPOSE: A projecting system for a reflective liquid crystal display device and a method thereof are provided to improve the luminance of the entire system by a reset state for black screen display before the screen display of a reflective LCD which is driven in the white mode in the normal state. CONSTITUTION: In a projecting method for a reflective liquid crystal display device, the steps of selectively transmitting light in a stabilized and polarized state proper for a wavelength band and a wavelength direction required for color image display from white light emitted from a light source by an illumination unit(S1). The selectively transmitted light is converted into red, green and blue light in sequence by a color splitter(S2). The converted light is incident to a polarization beam splitter to be split to an s-polarized beam and a p-polarized beam(S3). Liquid crystal is driven per pixel by the beams polarized by the polarization beam splitter(S4). A projection lens unit expands and transmits the image realized by the reflective LCD to a screen(S5). After the screen display, the reflective LCD is in a black state until next screen display by modulated application of a reset voltage to common electrodes, wherein the reset voltage displays black(S6).

    • PURPOSE: A memory effect image artifact removal method for a liquid crystal projector is provided to smoothen the screen area and eliminate moire from the screen area selectively by maintaining definition by identifying screen or non-screen regions. CONSTITUTION: Technique identifies screen and non-screen regions of a projected or displayed image to smooth and selectively remove moire from the screen regions while maintaining definition in the non-screen regions. Each pixel in the image is classified as a screen or non-screen pixel and then pixels in a predetermined surrounding area of each pixel are examined to check the classification of the pixel. A low pass filter(43) is applied to pixels in the image. When the low pass filter is applied, one or more pixels covered by the low pass filter are respectively replaced by one or more other pixels covered by the low pass filter based on the examination.
