    • PURPOSE: A multifunctional plasticizer and a photorefractive polymer complex containing the same are provided, thereby producing the photorefractive polymer complex having improved photorefractive property and stability. CONSTITUTION: The multifunctional plasticizer is represented by the formula(1) or (2), wherein B is NO2 or SO2CH3; the compound of formula(1) is 1-(2-ethylhexyl)-3-(2-(4-nitrophenyl) vinyl)-1H-indol and the compound of formula 2 is 9-(2-ethylhexyl)-3-(2-(4-nitrophenyl) vinyl)-9H-carbazol. The method for producing the multifunctional plasticizer comprises the steps of: (i) reaction of indol or carbazol with 1-bromo-2-ethylhexene to produce 1-(2-ethylhexyl)-1H-indol or 9-(2-ethylhexyl)-9H-carbazol in organic solvent in the presence of base and reaction of each compound with phosphorous oxychloride to produce 1-(2-ethylhexyl)-1H-indol-3-carbaldehyde or 9-(2-ethylhexyl)-9H-indol-3-carbaldehyde in organic solvent; (ii) reaction of benzyl halide having an electron receiver with triethylphosphite by heating to produce a phosphonate compound; and (iii) reaction of the compound of step (i) with the compound of step (ii) in the presence of potassium t-butoxide. The photorefractive polymer complex contains 30 to 80 wt.% of the multifunctional plasticizer and 20 to 70 wt.% of photoconductive polymer.
