    • PURPOSE: A tread groove for enhancing hydroplaning related performance of a tire is provided to enhance the driving and brake functions on snowy road and the drain performance on wet road by improving the shape structure of a protrusion on a groove. CONSTITUTION: A tread groove for enhancing hydroplaning related performance of a tire is as follows. A trapezoidal protrusion(4) is integrally inserted into a horizontal groove(2), which is formed in the circumferential direction of a tire. The front leading part(4a) of the protrusion is high in the rotating direction of the tire and the rear trailing part(4b) of the protrusion is low. The front leading part which is the front shape of the rotating direction of the tire, has a tilt angle of 80~90°. The rear trailing part has a tilt angle of 30~70° from the front leading part to the bottom of the horizontal groove. The depth(h) of the front leading part of the protrusion is set to 30~100% of the depth(H) of the horizontal groove.

CONSTITUTION: A thread kerf of a heavy-duty tire comprises a block(1), a kerf(2), and a flow path(4). The bottom part of the kerf has the area larger than an inlet(2a) of the kurf. The bottom part of the kerf is connected to the inlet and waveform contact hole(3) of the kerf. The bottom part of the kerf is composed of the flow path of venturi meter shape. The bottom part of the kerf is formed in order to rapidly increase airflow and drainage rate. The flow path is composed of polygon pipes of venturi meter shape.

    • Provided is a pneumatic tire, which is enabled to ensure a braking performance, by suppressing the turn-up of the edge portion of a block thereby to exhibit the edge effect sufficiently. A block row composed of a plurality of center blocks (24) is arranged through a circumferential thin groove (18) on the outer side of a center rib (16) in the tire widthwise direction, and a block row composed of a plurality of shoulder blocks (32) is arranged through a circumferential shallow groove (28) on the outer side of a shoulder rib (26) in the tire widthwise direction. At a high input time or on a dry road, the edge portion on a lug groove side may be turned up by the friction with the road surface. The center blocks (24) are adjacent to the center rib (16), and the shoulder blocks (32) are adjacent to the shoulder rib (26). The center rib (16) acts to suppress the deformations of the center blocks (24), and the shoulder rib (26) suppresses the deformations of the shoulder blocks (32). As a result, the turn-up of the edge portion on the lug groove side of each block is suppressed so that a sufficient braking performance can be exhibited even at a high input time or on a dry road.
