    • PURPOSE: An LED light source and a backlight unit including the same are provided to minimize light loss by varying the shape of a lens, which is positioning at the upper part of an LED chip, into an asymmetric ellipse differs in X axis width and Y axis width. CONSTITUTION: A backlight unit(130) provides light to an LCD panel displaying an image. The backlight unit comprises a light source array, a light guide plate(150), an optical sheet(140), and a reflecting plate(180). The light guide plate irradiates light generated at the light source array to a particular direction. The optical sheet scatters and diffuses the light irradiated from the light guide plate. The light source array comprises an LED chip(171) mounted on a printed circuit board(170a) and a lens part(170b). The LED chip is electrically connected to first and second bonding pads(177a,177b) of the printed circuit board with first and second bonding wires(175a,175b).
