    • A method for setting a link and detecting a failure by using an LVDS SERDES is provided to check PLL(Phase Locked Loop) lock of serializers of both ends of an initial link, initialize the link to a data transceiving state, and detect a link failure in the link using the LVDS SERDES by checking signal integrity without changing a test mode while transceiving frame data having a finite length. If link setting is started, a sync pattern transmitting state is kept for 100ms by controlling the SERDES after setting a link setting failure state as a current state(810). It is checked whether a PLL is locked or not by checking a state of the SERDES after 100ms(890). If abnormality is checked, checkup is repeated after keeping the sync pattern transmitting state for 10ms. If the PLL is locked, a loop back test count is initialized, the count is increased after continuously transmitting the same loop back pattern for 150 words, and it is checked whether all loop back patterns are returned(850). If all loop back pattern is returned, the link setting state is set as a success state(860).

A link apparatus using an LVDS includes an upper serial-parallel conversion unit(110), and a lower serial-parallel conversion unit(120). The upper serial-parallel conversion unit(110) includes a first serial conversion unit(111), and a first parallel conversion unit(112). The first serial conversion unit(111) converts first parallel data transmitted from one side into serial data, and outputs the converted data to the other side through a first LVDS signal. The first parallel conversion unit(112) converts first serial data received from the other side through a second LVDS signal into parallel data, and outputs the converted data to the one side. The lower serial-parallel conversion unit(120) includes a second serial conversion unit(121), and a second parallel conversion unit(122). The second serial conversion unit(121) converts second parallel data transmitted from one side into serial data, and outputs the converted data to the other side through a third LVDS signal. The second parallel conversion unit(122) converts second serial data received from the other side through a fourth LVDS signal into parallel data, and outputs the converted data to the one side.

    • PURPOSE: An ATM switch matching device of a wireless network control station in an IMT-2000 asynchronous system is provided to realize an extended area service by connecting sub-systems and forming a communication path. CONSTITUTION: A UTOPIA switch transmitter(212) receives an ATM cell from a core network and distributes it to a wireless network control station connecting/controlling unit(211). A UTOPIA switch receiver(217) receives an ATM cell for a call request transmitted from a base station and performs a multiplexing function. A usage control and OAM(Operation, Administration and Maintenance) processor(213) controls an amount of transmission data according to a transmittable amount and maintains a normal transmission state. A routing and multicasting processor(214) transfers an input cell to non-specific plural channels or to every output terminal for a broadcast and video service. An ATM switch mating unit(215) transmits and receives data by the unit of nibble by using an LVDS(Low Voltage Differential Signal). An ATM switch unit(2) performs an 16x16 switching function at the rate of 155Mbps and has a processing rate of 2.5Gbps. A controller(218) controls initialization of an ATM switch mating unit(1). An ATM UTOPIA mating unit(220) enables the UTOPIA switch transmitter(212) and the UTOPIA switch receiver(217) to perform a multiplexing or demultiplexing operation and has a transfer rate of 155Mbps. A memory unit(219) includes a flash ROM used for booting the controller(218), an SDRAM used for executing a program, and an SRAM used for channel mapping, a connection table and a buffer descriptor. An Ethernet mating unit(221) sets a communication path to the inside or the outside. A serial communication mating unit(222) executes a debugging operation.
