    • PURPOSE: A method and an apparatus for updating system information in a broadband wireless communication system are provided to prevent power consumption of a terminal by not decoding and updating system information transmitted through an SFH. CONSTITUTION: When there is no difference between a received S-SFH CC(Secondary Super Frame Header Change Count) value and a stored S-SFH CC value, a terminal omits decoding for all S-SFH IEs(S1105). When the different between the two values is 1, the terminal compares the stored S-SFH CB(Secondary Super Frame Header Change Bitmap) with a received S-SFH CB(S1109). The terminal decodes and updates an S-SFH SP IE(Secondary Super Frame Header Sub Packet Information Element) corresponding to a toggled bit location(S1111).

    • PURPOSE: A method for transmitting and receiving a signal in a multi-hop relay system is provided to enable a terminal to receive a signal through a repeater in a multi-hop relay environment in which a transparent repeater and a non-transparent repeater coexist. CONSTITUTION: A signal is received through a downlink receiving zone from a second upper repeater which activates in a non-transparent mode or a base station placed in an upper node of a first repeater. The received signal is directly transmitted to a terminal through a downlink transmission zone. The downlink subframes of the first repeater is placed in the downlink reception and transmission zones, and the downlink subframes of the second repeater are placed in the downlink reception and transmission zones.

    • A method of resource region allocation is provided to solve a problem caused by the different awareness for transmission region between a terminal and a fixed station. A terminal transmits a VoIP packet to a fixed station through a first transmission region allocated by the fixed station(S401). The fixed station allocates a second transmission region to the terminal by using control message(S402). The terminal renews the second transmission region included in the control message as a new transmission region(S403). The terminal transmits an ACK signal to the fixed station as a response to the received the control message(S404). The terminal transmits the VoIP packet to the fixed station through the second transmission region allocated by the fixed station(S405).
