    • PURPOSE: A retry method for an RACH(Random Access CHannel) in a CDMA mobile system is provided to execute an efficient reconnection attempt to an RACH and to carry out the reconnection attempt as much as a determined frequency. CONSTITUTION: If information necessary to access an RACH is obtained from a PRACH(Physical RACH) system information(410), an RRC(Radio Resource Control) layer selects Pi(PRACH partition I), an identifier to identify a desired, arbitrary PRACH group(412). Then the RRC layer sets M, a count value to count the frequency of access attempts, to '0'(414). After increasing M by '1'(416), the RRC layer judges whether access attempts have been executed as much as Mretry_max, the maximum retry frequency(418). In case that it is judged that access attempts have not been executed as much as Mretry_max, the RRC layer updates RACH transmission control parameters for an attempt to re-access the RACH according to PRACH system information provided from a UTRAN Node-B(420). If the RRC layer fails to receive an ACK signal for the request to use the RACH, the RRC layer sets a timer(T2)(422). Then the RRC layer determines an arbitrary number(Ri) having a value between '0' and '1'(424) and compares Pi with Ri(426). In case that it is judged that Pi is larger than Ri, the RRC later configures and transmits a PHY_ACCESS_REQ message to request the use of the RACH(428).
