    • PURPOSE: A method for recording and reproducing data on a ternary pit structured storage medium is provided to use a ternary pit structure and a ternary modulation code, so that recording density on the storage medium is improved, thereby storing more data with the same pickup. CONSTITUTION: Analog data read from a storage medium configured with a ternary pit structure are converted into digital data(500). Pseudo-deconvolution is performed for the converted digital data(510), wherein the pseudo-deconvolution is performed to calculate an intermediate value between a corresponding signal and adjacent 2m signals centered on the corresponding signal and the pseudo-deconvolved signals are turned to be similar to signals passing a wavelength equalizer. Ternary code demodulation is performed for the pseudo-deconvolved digital data(520). The demodulated ternary code data are converted binary code data(530). And ECC(Error Correcting Code) is performed for the binary code data(540), thereby recovering data from the storage medium.
