    • The present invention relates to an electric device (1) with a clocked power supply unit (21) or another clocked circuit and a method for testing the power supply unit (21) of the electric device (1). The electric device (1) comprises an electric load (29), the clocked power supply unit (21), at least one pulse transformer (41 to 44), and an evaluation device (10, 39). The power supply unit (21) comprises a power stack (23) having at least one power semiconductor switch (25, 26) and is configured for generating a clocked voltage for the electrical load from an electric voltage based on an alternating on/off switching of the at least one power semiconductor switch (25, 26). The power stack (23) has at least one current path (51 to 54), through which an electric current (i1) flows when the power supply unit (21) is in operation. The pulse transformer (41 to 44) is configured to generate a signal associated with a change in the charge and/or the direction of the electric current (i1) flowing through the current path (51). The evaluation device (10, 39) is configured to evaluate the signal coming from the pulse transformer (41) and to estimate the functionality of the power semiconductor switch (25, 26) based on the evaluated signal.
