    • There are provided a power line terminating circuit, method, and power line relay device capable of matching impedance independently of a connected device so that the interior power line is appropriate for communication and reducing the noise from an electric device to the power line. A capacitor (33) arranged between connection ends (35A, 35B) and an inductor (34) arranged between a terminal (32A) of an interior power line (1A) and a connection terminal (35A) constitute a series resonance circuit having a series resonance point in a frequency band higher than a power source voltage frequency and lower than a communication frequency band. There is also provided a resistor (31) arranged in parallel to the inductor (34) and having a resistance value equivalent to the characteristic impedance of the interior power lines (1A, 1B). Regardless of the presence/absence or type of a load (electric device (5)), the input impedance of a power line terminating circuit (30U) is fixed in a communication frequency band and it is possible to prevent reflection caused by impedance mismatch in the power line terminal section. Accordingly, it is possible to maintain a communication quality of the power line communication.

    • PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for monitoring the breaking of a telephone line in a crime prevention system are provided to grasp whether a corresponding public line is broken, using a general telephone line, without additionally loading a fee for telephone call by a CID(Caller ID) display function. CONSTITUTION: A call origination device(201) dials a previously registered telephone number in a certain period, and blocks a call when normal ring-back tones of the number of set times are received. A CID receiver(206) receives a CID provided from a switch according to the dialing of the call origination device(201). A CID receiving server(209) senses that the breaking of a telephone line is generated, when the CID is not received through the CID receiver(206) within a time set as a period which is longer than the certain period.

    • Data is detected from a disc in a disc drive and provided as a sampled read signal including data samples provided in a plurality of time intervals. A signal space detector is configured to detect the data, wherein the data is encoded according to a code having a time varying maximum transition run constraint which varies between a first and a second constraint over a plurality of time intervals. The detector is configured to receive an input sample including a first plurality of terms indicative of one of a plurality of possible data symbols. One of the plurality of possible data symbols is eliminated based on the first constraint when the input sample then being detected is constrained by the first constraint, to provide a second plurality of remaining possible data symbols. An estimated data value is determined which corresponds to the input sample then being detected, by determining which of the second plurality of remaining possible data symbols is within a predetermined range of the input symbol.

    • PURPOSE: A method of generating an alarm for deciding a state of a communication line is provided to sample state bits of the communication line with time bits, and to generate and output an alarm signal or an alarm suspension signal according to an occupation rate of alarm set bits or alarm clear bits, thereby deciding an exact line state. CONSTITUTION: An operator sets and stores sampling time and a threshold value(S10). A state bit detector continuously detects state bits from a communication line, and transmits the state bits to an alarm generator(S11). • PURPOSE: An intelligent discrimination systems of RS-232c access specification is provided to detect Rxd and Txd from numerous communication pins by using a voltage difference of the Rxd and Txd. CONSTITUTION: Voltages of every pin are amplified by using an OP-AMP, and then the amplified voltages are compared by using a gate in order to detect Rxd and Txd. Accordingly, the Rxd and the Txd, the communication pins, are automatically detected among numerous pins of RX-232C connector, so that a user does not need to refer to a manual for communication pins of devices for the RS-232C communication, and in addition, communication pins of devices which do not have a manual can be detected.
