    • PURPOSE: A circuit for removing VHF interference in a tuner is provided to remove a VHF signal and apply only UHF signal to a low-noise amplifier when UHF having a weak electric field is received, to eliminate interference generated due to VHF having a strong field. CONSTITUTION: A circuit for removing VHF interference in a tuner connected between an antenna for receiving a UHF signal and a VHF signal and a low-noise amplifier includes the first and second ON/OFF switches and a high pass filter(21). The first ON/OFF switch is placed between the antenna and the low-noise amplifier and turns off when the UHF signal is selected. The second ON/OFF switch is connected between the antenna and the low-noise amplifier in parallel with the first ON/OFF switch and turns on when the low-noise amplifier is selected to apply the UHF signal to the low-noise amplifier. The high pass filter passes UHF band.

    • PURPOSE: A dual-tuning circuit of a tuner is provided to prevent selective characteristics from deteriorating by a parasitic tuning circuit consisting of static capacitance caused in nonconductive state of a witch diode and inter-terminal capacitance of resistors. CONSTITUTION: A high-band reception feed resistor is connected directly to a switch diode(22) in a primary tuning circuit(11) and to a switch diode(40) via a coil(34) in a secondary tuning circuit(12). Since the tuning frequency by a parasitic tuning circuit in the primary tuning circuit is lower than the tuning frequency by a parasitic tuning circuit in the secondary tuning circuit, the peak in frequency characteristics caused by the parasitic tuning circuit can be reduced. Therefore, the disturbance to an IF(Intermediate Frequency) signal can be decreased.

    • PURPOSE: An apparatus and method for selecting a broadband frequency automatically channel using a frequency mapping approximation function is provided to select a broadband frequency channel automatically by using a frequency mapping function. CONSTITUTION: A frequency band separating unit(510) comprises an input band passing wave filter(501) and a positive tracking wave filter and automatically gaining controller(502). The frequency band separating unit(510) passes broadcasting channels(CH2-CH69) of 50-810 MHz frequency band and the channels including cable TV channels and removes non-television signals inputted as a video signal band(more 920MHz). A frequency upward adjusting unit(520) comprises a frequency up-converter(503), a low band passing wave filter(504), an IF amplifier(505) and a band passing wave filter(506). The frequency up-converter(503) performs the first frequency upward conversion of an input wireless frequency signal into an intermediate frequency of 944 MHz. A frequency downward adjusting unit(530) comprises a frequency down-converter(507), a low band passing wave filter(508) and a final terminal IF amplifier(509). The frequency down-converter(507) performs the frequency downward conversion of an input IF signal(944 MHz) into the final IF(44 MHz). The low band passing wave filter(508) and the final terminal IF amplifier(509) suppress spurious components generated by a mixer and amplify a signal. A tuner control unit(550) comprises a tuning micro controller(513), an EEPROM(514), a digital/analog converter(D/A)(515), a calculation amplifier(516) and a driver amplifier(517). The tuning micro controller(513) forms an interface with a frequency channel selection information introduced by the external IIC-BUS signal.

A pattern condenser(Cp) performs a capacity combination of the first filter unit(110) and the second filter unit(120).

First and second switch circuits(3,5) pass a high frequency signal when a frequency converter located at a rear side is operated and does not pass the high frequency signal when the frequency converter is not operated.
