    • A compact-structure starter is provided to obtain a small size by installing a pinion carrier which is shifted by a shift lever through a magnetic attractive force transferred from an electromagnetic such that a pinion is engaged to a ring gear. A compact-structure starter comprises a motor(2), an output shaft(3), a pinion carrier(4), a shift lever(5) and an electromagnetic actuator. The motor generates torque for igniting an object. The output shaft receives the torque from the motor. The pinion carrier includes a pinion(9) inserted into an outer circumference of the output shaft, and a holder(10). When current flows, the electromagnetic actuator generates magnetic attractive force, which is applied to the shift lever to shift the pinion carrier, such that a ring gear is coupled to the object to transfer the torque to the object. The holder connects the shift lever and the pinion to each other and holds the shift lever. The holder has specific gravity smaller than that of the pinion.

    • PURPOSE: A starter motor of a vehicle is provided to flow and discharge external air while rotating a fan in starting by forming an air inlet and an air outlet at the bracket of the starter motor and mounting the fan in the rear end of the armature assembly of the starter motor. CONSTITUTION: A starter motor(20) of a vehicle starts an engine by supplying rotational force to the engine with electric energy of a battery. An air inlet(15) and an air outlet(16) are formed at the side of a bracket surrounding the starter motor, and a fan(10) is mounted in the rear end of an armature assembly(3). The fan is rotated in turning the armature assembly by a magnet inducing magnetic force in starting to flow in and discharge external air and to forcibly cool the starter motor. The fan is integrally formed with a ring, and to an assembling member is welded into the fan to mount the fan in the rear end of the armature assembly.

    • PURPOSE: A recoil starter is provided to efficiently execute cooling of an engine by enabling induction of cooling air into the engine through an opening of the engine although enlarging the exterior dimension of a rope reel to reduce tractive load of a recoil rope. CONSTITUTION: A recoil starter comprises a case(1) including a reel shaft(2) arranged coaxially with a crankshaft of an engine to which a rotating member(9) is combined; a rope reel(4) rotatably supported to the reel shaft; a recoil spring(6) making the rope reel rotate in a winding direction of a recoil rope(3); a cam(7) rotatably supported to the reel shaft; and a damper spring(13) arranged between the rope reel and the cam. A drum part(4a) where the recoil rope is wound is formed to the outer periphery of the rope reel. The cam transmits rotation to the rotating member through a clutch mechanism. The damper spring transmits the rotation of the rope reel to the cam via elastic action. Annular recesses(11,12) are oppositely formed to joining surfaces of the rope reel and the cam. The damper spring is received in the annular recesses. Both ends of the damper spring are each maintained to the rope reel and the cam, and the rope reel and the cam are rotatably connected through the damper spring. The case includes a side wall to which an air inlet(18) for induction of cooling air of the engine is formed. The rope reel includes an annular boss part(4b) of the rope reel. The rope reel has an air passage(22) formed between the drum part and the boss part in a type opposite to the air inlet formed to the case.
