    • An apparatus and a method for interference cancellation in a BWA(Broadband Wireless Access) communication system are provided to cancel inter-cell interference and improve the performance of estimation by using an STC(Space-Time Coding) mode MIMO(Multiple Input Multiple Output) channel estimation technique in a BWA communication system. A receiver for executing an interference cancellation function in a BWA communication system comprises a wireless communication module, a preamble correlation measurement part(330), a data realignment part(320), an MMSE(Minimum Mean Square Error) weight vector operation part(340), and an STC decoding/merging part(352). The wireless communication module receives a signal from an Rx antenna. The preamble correlation measurement part measures a preamble correlation coefficient from the preamble of the received signal. The data realignment part determines a block size to segment the received signal from the preamble correlation coefficient, segments the received signal according to the determined block size, and realigns the segmented signals. The MMSE weight vector operation part executes cross correlation for the signals outputted from the data realignment part, realigns the cross correlation results, executes auto correlation for them, calculates an MMSE weight vector, and interpolates the MMSE weight vector. The STC decoding/merging part detects desired signals from the signals outputted from the MMSE weight vector operation part and merges them.

    • A method and a system for operating control channels in a mobile communication system which uses multiple antennas are provided to achieve capacity improvement and efficient resource management by forwarding precoding information or various types of pilot pattern information through shared control channel messages. When a common pilot is used(300), it is judged whether a current mode is an MCW(Multi CodeWord) MIMO(Multiple Input Multiple Output) mode(310). In the MCW mode which uses the common pilot and uses knockdown precoding(320), a specific knockdown precoding method is selected and PFs(Packet Formats) of the MCW MIMO are determined(322). It is determined that an MCW FLAM(Forward Link Assignment Message) is used(324). A mother matrix index is recorded in a pilot/MIMO field(326). A rank is reflected and a layer-classified PF is recorded in a PF field. Other MCW-FLAM fields are recorded(328). In the MCW MIMO mode which uses the common pilot and uses ready-made precoding, a specific ready-made precoding method is selected and PFs of the MCW MIMO are determined(342).     • The present invention is a system and method for use in a CDMA communication system including a plurality of base stations and auser equipment (UE), each for communicating with each other. The base station has a transmitter which includes a first and second antenna for transmitting a data field of symbols. The first spreading device spreads the first data field using a first channelization code and the second spreading device spreads the second data field using a second channelization code, each channelization code being uniquely associated with one of the first and second antennas. The UE has a receiver for receiving a signal including the first and second spread data fields. The UE includes a joint detection device for detecting the symbols of the first and second data fields using the first and second channelization codes and a decoder for decoding the detected data fields to generate a single data field of symbols.
