    • PURPOSE: An optical module is provided to improve an RF characteristic and perform a high-speed transmission process by using a silicon optical bench as a sub-mount. CONSTITUTION: An optical module includes a silicon optical bench, a laser diode, a photo diode, a stem, and a plurality of leads. A V-groove is formed on the silicon optical bench. The laser diode(10) is installed on the V-groove of the silicon optical bench. The photo diode(30) is used for converting the light of the laser diode to the current. The silicon optical bench and the photo diode are installed on the stem(40). The leads(50) are used for providing the electric signals to the laser diode and the photo diode.

    • PURPOSE: A TO-CAN package for use in 10 giga bps optical module is provided to improve the reflection loss to 17db - 37db at a range from 1GHz - 10GHz and to improve the transmittance to -0.03dB - (-0.3dB). CONSTITUTION: A TO-CAN package for use in 10 giga bps optical module includes a stem(10), a lead(20) and an RF feed line. The stem(10) receives an optical device and the lead(20) connects the optical device through the opening formed on the stem(10). The lead(20) placed inside of the TO-CAN package(100) is coated with a first insulating layer form the opening of the stem(10) to a predetermined length. And, the RF feed line is formed by the lead(20) which is placed outside of the TO-CAN package(100) encompassed with a third insulating layer.

    • PURPOSE: An optical communication module is provided to improve a frequency response characteristic to have a high frequency response characteristic with 8GHz by performing an impedance matching by a compensating element installed at the outside of a package. CONSTITUTION: A cap(30) is combined with a lower stem(40) of a body in which a laser diode and a photo detector are built, and a window is installed in the center of an upper surface of the cap(30). A plurality of leads(10b,10c,10d) connected with the laser diode and the photo detector are installed at a lower surface of the stem(40). The lead(10c) is connected with a hot terminal of the photo detector. The dummy lead(10b) is not connected with the laser diode and the photo detector and is electrically floated. The lead(10d) is connected with the hot terminal of the photo detector, and is connected with the dummy lead(10b) by a compensating element.
