    • PURPOSE: An automatic packing apparatus for a cathode ray tube panel and a control method are provided to put the panel into the package promptly and accurately by directly moving the panel from a panel transfer hanger. CONSTITUTION: An automatic packing device for a cathode ray tube panel is composed of an articulated robot(1) having plural arms; a gripper(3) adsorbing and picking the panel up to transfer onto a hanger; a gripper support arm combined with the final arm of the articulated robot to support the gripper; a sliding support unit formed in the gripper support arm to support the gripper for sliding horizontally to the gripper support arm; an actuator sliding the gripper along the sliding support unit; a position sensor installed in the gripper support arm to detect the relative position of the panel to the gripper support arm; and a control unit controlling the actuator to place the panel based on the signal from the position sensor. Thus, the panel of the cathode ray tube is inserted to the packing material promptly and accurately.

CONSTITUTION: A CRT flat panel forming apparatus comprises a lower mold(70) having an accommodation portion for accommodating a glass gob; and a plunger(50) arranged to be movable in a vertical direction with respect to the lower mold, in such a manner that the plunger presses the glass gob accommodated in the accommodation portion of the lower mold so as to form a flat panel(10). The accommodation portion has a side wall which is inclined to have an obtuse angle with respect to the bottom surface of the accommodation portion. The tilt of the accommodation portion ranges 0.1 to 10 degrees with respect to the vertical axial line.
