    • PURPOSE: A laser processing method is provided to form a modified area inside a workpiece by focusing laser beams with a predetermined pulse width into the workpiece. CONSTITUTION: A laser processing method is to form a modified area inside a workpiece due to multiphoton absorption by focusing laser beams into the workpiece. The laser beams have a higher pulse width than 1 us. The pulse waveform of the laser beams comprises a first pulse part and a second pulse part. The first pulse part contains a peak with the maximum amplitude value. The second pulse part is extended from the first pulse part. The amplitude of the second pulse part is gradually decreased. An inclination of the second pulse part is smaller than an inclination of the first pulse part.
