    • A method for preparing a phosphorus-containing polyol is provided to produce the phosphorus-containing polyol which is superior in stability, compatibility, corrosion resistance, and flame retardancy, and is used as a surfactant, aqueous metal processing oil, or extreme pressure additive. A method for preparing a phosphorus-containing polyol includes the steps of: (a) adding a depolymerization agent to a de-polymerizable polymer, and de-polymerizing the polymer to prepare a de-polymerized composition; (b) adding a polybasic acid and a polyhydric alcohol to the de-polymerized composition, and performing polycondensation to prepare a de-polymerized oligomer composition; and (c) adding a phosphorus compound to the composition of the step (b) to prepare the phosphorus-containing composition.
