    • A method for preparing diaryl carbonate derivative is provided to prepare a diarylcarbonate derivative at high yield by using an alkali metal catalyst without reactive distillation. A diaryl carbonate derivative is prepared by performing transesterification reaction of diarylcarbonate and a hydroxyl compound derivative of chemical formula 1. The compound selected from the group consisting of LiOH, NaOH, KOH and their mixture is used as the alkali metal catalyst. In chemical formula 1, R1 is independently C1-18 chained or branched alkyl group, C6-12 aryl or C7-12 aralkyl group. The alkali metal catalyst is used in the amount of 1.0x10^(-7) ~ 1.0x10^(-3) moles based on 1 mole of diarylcarbonate.

    • The object is to provide a specific process for production of a dialkyl carbonate and a diol using a cyclic carbonate and a monohydric aliphatic alcohol as raw materials, by a reaction distillation method in which the raw materials are fed continuously into a continuous multi-stage distillation column containing a catalyst to achieve both the reaction and the distillation simultaneously in the column, wherein the dialkyl carbonate and the diol can be produced stably for a long period in an industrial scale of 2 tons or more per hour and 1.3 tons or more per hour, respectively, with high selectivities and high yields. Although various process for production of a dialkyl carbonate and a diol by a reaction distillation method have been proposed, these are all relate to the production at a laboratory level (i.e., a small scale and a short production period). There has been no disclosure about a process or apparatus for the industrial-scale mass production of a dialkyl carbonate and a diol. Thus, disclosed is a process for production of a dialkyl carbonate and a diol which is characterized in that: a continuous multi-stage distillation column is used which has such a specific constitution that the dialkyl carbonate and the diol can be produced stably for a period of 1000 hours or longer, preferably 3000 hours or longer, more preferably 5000 hours or longer, in an industrial scale of 2 tons or more per hour and 1.3 tons or more per hour, respectively, and at a selectivity of 95% or higher for the both, preferably 97% or higher, more preferably 99% or higher; the raw materials are fed into a specific stage of the distillation column; and a monohydric aliphatic alcohol having a specific composition is used as a raw material.

    • Disclosed is a specific process for producing a high-quality/high-performance aromatic polycarbonate free from discoloration and having excellent mechanical properties from a dialkyl carbonate and an aromatic dihydroxy compound stably, in an industrially large scale (e.g., 1 ton or more per hour) for a prolonged period of time (e.g., for 1000 hours or longer, preferably 3000 hours or longer, more preferably 5000 hours or longer). The process comprises the steps of: (I) producing a diaryl carbonate with two reactive distillation columns each having a specific structure; (II) purifying the diaryl carbonate to yield a highly pure diaryl carbonate; (III) preparing a molten prepolymer from an aromatic dihydroxy compound and the highly pure diaryl carbonate and treating the molten prepolymer with a guide contact flow-down type polymerizer having a specific structure to produce a desired aromatic polycarbonate; and (IV) recycling an aromatic monohydroxy compound, which is a by-product in the reaction in step (III), into step (I).
