    • An apparatus and a method for detecting spurious waves are disclosed. A signal input unit receives signals received by a base station or signals transmitted from the base station. A signal processing unit converts the signals inputted through the signal input unit and transmitted from the base station or the signals received by the base station into base band signals, and the base band signals are converted into the digital signals by the signal processing unit. A signal conversion unit converts the digital signals inputted from the signal processing unit into a frequency component. A power detection unit detects the power level of the frequency component corresponding to each sub-carrier wave. A spurious wave detection unit extracts minimum power levels for the frequency component corresponding to each sub-carrier waves from the power level data for the frequency component corresponding to each sub-carrier wave corresponding to a first time and determines the existence of the spurious wave in the sub-carrier wave frequency including the minimum power level which is larger than a reference level set among the minimum power levels for the frequency component corresponding to each sub-carrier wave. According to the present invention, the apparatus accurately and simply detects the spurious wave regardless of the kind of the data or a modulation method in an LTE system.
