CONSTITUTION: A heat exchanger comprises a pair of end plates placed on both ends; a plurality of fin plates(12) layered between the end plates; and refrigerant pipes penetrating the end plates and the fin plates and fluidically connected with each other and includes extensions(12a) formed on ends of the fin plates, respectively, to generate condensed water and having hydrophilic layers formed thereon. The extensions are warm enough to convert moisture in the air into condensed water without frost formed thereon as being distant from the refrigerant pipes.

    • PURPOSE: A heat transfer fin for evaporator is provided to allow the heat transfer fin to be easily assembled, while preventing reduction of available area of refrigerator. CONSTITUTION: An evaporator comprises a plurality of heat transfer tubes(12) coupled to a pair of holder members(11), and arranged in a zigzag fashion in a vertical direction so as to form a refrigerant flow channel; and a plurality of heat transfer fins(13) coupled to the heat transfer tubes in a horizontal direction with respect to the air flow direction. The heat transfer fins are arranged in such a manner that the pitch between heat transfer fins at a flow channel(a) for passage of wet air is relatively wider than the pitch between heat transfer fins at a flow channel(b) for passage of dry air. Thus, reduction of available area of refrigerator is prevented by allowing air to flow smoothly, without increasing the size of evaporator.

    • PURPOSE: A spine type heat transfer fin of evaporator is provided to minimize amount of water drops staying and forming frost on a surface of a heat transfer fin during defrosting operation. CONSTITUTION: A fin part(13) longitudinally becomes narrower to have an apex on a tip thereof. Defrosting water running down the fin part gathers on the apex to join together to become larger drops to naturally fall down. Moisture is removed easily from the heat transfer fin to prevent blocking of air due to excessive frosting on the inlet side heat transfer fins on restarting to improve efficiency of an evaporator and to reduce time for defrosting operation to reduce power consumption.

    • PURPOSE: A refrigerator is provided, in which assembly of heat transfer fins of evaporator is automated such that heat transfer fins are simultaneously coupled to each of heat transfer pipes with the same pitch, to thereby reduce manufacturing time and cost. CONSTITUTION: A refrigerator includes an evaporator having a plurality of heat transfer pipes(33) communicated with each other for refrigerant flow and spaced apart from each other in accordance with the traverse air flow direction; and a plurality of heat transfer fins(35) having through holes for passage of heat transfer pipes, and which are arranged at heat transfer pipes in such a manner that heat transfer pipes are spaced apart from each other in accordance with the air flow direction. The evaporator includes a frost deposition unit(41) for allowing moisture contained in the air to be deposited as a frost at the surface of the evaporator, thereby lowering humidity of the air. The frost formation portion is formed by a refrigerant pipe which is disposed upstream of the evaporator with respect to air flow direction, and has an end communicated to the outlet side of the condenser and the other end connected to the inlet side of the heat transfer pipe. A defrost unit(41) is arranged beneath the frost deposition unit so as to remove frost from the surface of the frost deposition unit.
